Legal Memorandum and Case Brief Data Entry Assistant Remote Work

We are seeking a detail-oriented Data Entry Assistant to catalog and organize legal memoranda and case briefs into a structured legal document database or spreadsheet. The project involves transferring information from client-provided Microsoft Word and PDF files into the designated dataset.

This is primarily a copy-and-paste data entry project. All legal documents, templates, and detailed instructions will be provided by the client upon hire.

Background

Our legal team is organizing its existing collection of legal memoranda and case briefs to improve document retrieval, reference, and internal record management. Accurate cataloging is essential to ensure that each document can be easily identified and located when needed.

The freelancer will review the supplied documents and accurately transfer the required information without altering the substance of the legal materials.

Scope of Work

The freelancer will be responsible for:

  • Reviewing client-provided Word and PDF legal documents.
  • Copying document information into the designated spreadsheet or database.
  • Recording document titles.
  • Entering client or matter identification numbers.
  • Recording the date each document was drafted.
  • Entering the author or preparer name.
  • Recording the relevant jurisdiction.
  • Transferring statutes cited in the document.
  • Transferring relevant judicial precedents or case citations.
  • Recording document type and legal subject where provided.
  • Matching each entry to the correct source document.
  • Verifying entries against the original files.
  • Identifying missing or unclear information.
  • Correcting data entry errors.
  • Maintaining consistent formatting.
  • Recording the source document for each catalog entry.
  • Maintaining confidentiality of all client-provided legal information.
