Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented Research Data Entry Assistant to research, collect, organize, and enter publicly available information about the Canadian manufacturing industry into a structured spreadsheet.

The freelancer will independently research information from reliable Canadian government, industrial, academic, business, and institutional sources. The project requires 300–400 entries from different manufacturing companies, facilities, product categories, and regions across Canada.

Scope of Work

The freelancer will be responsible for:

  • Researching Canadian manufacturing businesses and industry information from different sources.
  • Compiling and entering 300–400 research entries into the designated spreadsheet.
  • Researching manufacturing companies and facilities across different provinces and territories.
  • Covering different sectors such as automotive, food processing, aerospace, machinery, electronics, chemicals, building materials, and consumer products.
  • Recording publicly available manufacturing information accurately.
  • Verifying each entry against the original or authoritative source.
  • Identifying and removing duplicate or outdated records.
  • Recording the source/reference for each entry.
  • Maintaining consistent formatting throughout the dataset.
  • Conducting a final accuracy and completeness review.

Deadline

The completed project must be submitted on or before 1st September at 11:00 PM.

Research Sources

The freelancer should research information from Statistics Canada, Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada, provincial economic development agencies, Canadian Manufacturers & Exporters, industry associations, official company websites, university research centres, and other reliable publicly available sources.

Data Coverage Requirement

The 300–400 entries must be collected from different Canadian manufacturing companies, facilities, sectors, product categories, and regions, rather than relying on one company, industry, or source. The research should aim for broad coverage across provinces and territories.

Additional Notes

Only publicly available business and manufacturing information should be collected. No confidential production records, private employee information, customer information, proprietary manufacturing data, or restricted commercial information should be included.
